TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning and Head of the National Land Agency, Nusron Wahid, stated his ministry is preparing 50 hectares of land to relocate the displaced residents of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki’s eruptions in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"We have prepared 50 hectares of land to relocate the refugees,” he said after a meeting concerning the mitigation of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki’s eruptions on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, as quoted in a written statement.
Yesterday, Nusron attended a meeting at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Building in Jakarta, led by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
To expedite the disaster management process, Nusron said his ministry will reverify the status of land expected to house the residents affected by a series of eruptions at Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki.
The government will build 1,100 houses for the relocation of victims. Minister of Public Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait, said the construction of said houses will be completed by next week.
"As many as 1,100 are available and in good condition,” he said. “Approximately in eight to nine days.”
The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs; several ministers and heads of state agencies of the Red and White Cabinet; the Chief of the Indonesian National Police; and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces were also present at the Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki mitigation meeting.
