TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia’s Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) at the Ministry of Finance reported that as of January 2, 2026, more than 11.19 million taxpayers had activated their Coretax accounts, a mandatory step for filing annual tax returns through the government’s new digital tax administration system.

DJP Director of Education, Service, and Public Relations Rosmauli said that as of 10:04 a.m. Jakarta time on January 2, a total of 11,192,297 accounts had been activated.

The figure comprises 10.28 million individual taxpayers, 816,100 corporate taxpayers, 88,300 government agencies, and 221 electronic trading system (PMSE) entities.

The number continues to rise from 10.22 million recorded on December 30, 2025. DJP previously clarified that there is no hard deadline for Coretax account activation by the end of 2025.

Taxpayers may activate their accounts and obtain an Electronic Authorization Code or Certificate (KO/SE) at any time before using Coretax services, meaning the process does not expire on December 31.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa acknowledged receiving public complaints about difficulties in activating and accessing Coretax accounts. “Some people have complained to me,” he said at his office on December 31, 2025.

He noted that the system remains relatively complex and requires clearer guidance, adding that direct assistance from tax officers may still be necessary. “The procedures seem a bit complicated. I will look into it further,” he said.

DJP has encouraged taxpayers to activate their Coretax accounts as early as possible to prevent congestion during the annual tax return filing season.

Under Indonesian tax rules, individual taxpayers must file their annual returns no later than three months after the end of the tax year, or by March 31, while corporate taxpayers have until April 30.

Taxpayers can activate their Coretax accounts and issue KO/SE independently by following official tutorials available on the DJP website at pajak.go.id, the agency’s social media account (@DitjenPajakRI), or via the dedicated Coretax activation link at t.kemenkeu.go.id/akuncoretax.

Those facing technical issues—particularly related to data changes that require in-person assistance—are advised to plan their visits to tax offices carefully to ensure smooth service and manageable queues.
