TEMPO.COJakarta - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police have identified the body of an adult male that was found in the waters of Selat Padar, Indonesian, on Sunday, January 4, 2026. The body was one of the four passengers of the KM Putri Sakinah tourist boat that had previously been declared missing after sinking.

The Head of Public Relations of the NTT Regional Police, Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, stated that the identification results confirmed that the body belongs to the women's team coach of Valencia CF, Fernando Martin. "All of the findings were confirmed by the family," said Henry on Sunday, January 2, 2025.

Henry revealed that the victim's body could be identified through physical appearance and belongings. "These include the adult male gender, height, distinctive features such as tattoos, and personal belongings such as a ring and a watch," Henry said in his written statement.

The body of the Valencia CF Women's Coach B is currently at a health facility in Labuan Bajo for further handling. Coordination for repatriating the victim to their home country is also being conducted with the family and embassy representatives.

Previously, the police found the body of the alleged Fernando Martin in a floating condition around the location of the sunken boat. "We found one adult male body, a Spanish citizen, in the waters of Selat Padar," said Henry.

The discovery of Fernando Martin's body left two missing victims. The search team had previously found one female victim. "The body that was found belongs to a female," said Henry on Monday, August 29, 2025.

The KM Putri Sakinah tourist boat, which initially carried 11 people, was on a tour to Pulau Kalong in the Komodo National Park (TNK) area. Subsequently, the boat continued its journey to Pulau Padar with an estimated arrival on Saturday morning.

During the journey to Pulau Padar (Padar Island), the boat experienced engine failure and eventually sank. The maritime accident is estimated to have occurred on Friday around 20:45 WITA (Central Indonesian Time).

The incident resulted in four Spanish nationals, who were a family, going missing and presumed dead. The four Spanish victims who drowned were identified as Martin Carreras Fernando, Martin Garcia Mateo, Martines Ortuno Maria Lia, and Martinez Ortuno Enriquejavier.

Meanwhile, the two Spanish nationals who had previously been declared safe are the wife of the victim and their child. The other survivors include four crew members, including the captain of KM Putri Sakinah, and a tour guide.
