TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with executives of major American companies, including Exxon Mobil, on November 11, 2024, at the Four Season Hotel, Washington DC.

Exxon Mobil Profile
Exxon Mobil Corporation, known as ExxonMobil, is a multinational oil and gas company headquartered in Irving, Texas, United States. The company is the result of the merger between Exxon and Mobil in 1999, both of which are successors of John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company.
ExxonMobil has a long history in the global energy industry. Initially, the company operated under the name Standard Oil Company of New Jersey and Standard Oil Company of New York before eventually merging into Exxon and Mobil. In 1999, these two companies merged to form ExxonMobil.
ExxonMobil operates in various energy sectors, including oil and gas exploration and production, refining, marketing of oil and gas products, and petrochemical production. The company has operations worldwide and is one of the largest energy producers in the world.
As one of the largest energy companies in the world, ExxonMobil has significant annual revenue. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange with the code "XOM" and is part of the S&P 500 index.
Quoted from the Exxonmobil website, the company has a long history in Indonesia that began more than 125 years ago. The company first operated in Indonesia in the early 20th century, through a subsidiary previously known as the Standard Oil Company of California (Socal). At that time, Socal established relationships with the Indonesian Government to explore the potential of oil and gas in the country.
In the 1960s, after several oil discoveries in various regions of Indonesia, Exxon (as a result of the merger of Socal with another company) began to expand its operations, especially in oil exploration and production in Sumatra and Kalimantan. Over the years, ExxonMobil has been involved in various major projects, including exploring gas fields in the Aceh region in the 1970s and 1980s.
In 2001, after the merger process between Exxon and Mobil, ExxonMobil became a major player in the global energy industry, including Indonesia. The company continues to invest in energy exploration and production projects in Indonesia, both in onshore oil and offshore gas sectors.
PT ExxonMobil Indonesia is also involved in providing energy and petrochemical products in Indonesia. As part of its commitment to Indonesia's economic development, the company has collaborated with the government and local partners to contribute to the energy sector and help meet domestic energy needs.
