TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta gubernatorial candidate pair Ridwan Kamil-Suswono (RIDO) has withdrawn their plans to challenge the results of the recent Jakarta gubernatorial election in court. Despite earlier indications that a legal challenge would be filed, the RIDO campaign team did not submit a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court within the designated timeframe.
Tempo observed that no dispute petitions regarding the Jakarta gubernatorial election results were filed by the RIDO team or the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus team by the 11:59 p.m. deadline on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. A review of the court’s website, mkri.go.id, revealed only 14 applications for disputes over regional election results at the provincial level submitted within the allotted timeframe.
A Golkar Party politician confirmed that the RIDO’s legal team did not file a lawsuit with the Court. Although the team had previously indicated their intention to file a legal challenge on Wednesday evening, they ultimately decided against pursuing this course of action. However, the source declined to provide specific reasons for this decision.
This decision was further corroborated by a member of the RIDO’s campaign team, who stated that the camp has accepted the results of the Jakarta gubernatorial election as announced by the Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU) on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
“In any competition and democratic process, winning and losing are commonplace,” he said.
Ahmad Riza Patria, the Head of the RIDO’s campaign team, Secretary Basri Baco, and Coordinator Ramdan Alamsyah have not yet responded to inquiries from Tempo regarding this matter.
According to the provisions of the Law on the Election of Governors, Regents, and Mayors, the deadline for submitting a request for a dispute over the gubernatorial election results to the Constitutional Court is three days following the official announcement of the election results, or on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
The KPU Jakarta officially announced the results of the Jakarta gubernatorial election on Sunday, declaring the Pramono Anung-Rano Karno pair as the victor with 2,183,239 votes (50.07%). The Ridwan Kamil-Suswono pair received 1,718,160 votes (39.40%), while the Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana pair garnered 459,230 votes (10%).
