TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Shin Tae-yong finally spoke up for the first time since he was no longer the coach of the Indonesian National Team. He wrote a touching message to Nova Arianto, who was his assistant coach when he was in charge of the national team.
Nova said goodbye and thanked Shin Tae-yong via his Instagram account on Monday, January 6.
"I can only say my deepest gratitude to the coach for giving beautiful colors and stories to Indonesian football. We feel lucky with the presence of the coach for almost 5 years in the national team," wrote Nova.
Shin replied to the post in Nova Arianto's comments column on Tuesday night.
"Thank you Nova and sorry I couldn't make it to the end. Take care of our local players and go to the World Cup. See you again, thank you very much for this time," wrote Shin in Korean.
PSSI Chair Erick Thohir announced on Monday that Shin Tae-yong is no longer the coach of Indonesia.
The position of national team coach will be given to a new coach from the Netherlands.
"All of that is based on three things. One, the program is correct, consistent. The coach is also good. The quality of the players must also be good. Those are all three things that cannot be separated," said Erick after a press conference in Jakarta.
Patrick Kluivert is the leading candidate to replace Shin Tae-yong as the coach of the Indonesian national team. However, the certainty of Patrick Kluivert as the coach of the Indonesian national team and Louis Van Gaal as the technical director of the Indonesian national team can only be known when PSSI introduces the new coach on January 12.
