TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo visited the students who were victims of the explosion at SMAN 72 high school in Jakarta, Indonesia. The victims are currently receiving treatment at several different hospitals.
Sigit mentioned that there are still dozens of students being treated for injuries from the incident. "Out of 96 victims, about 29 students are still undergoing treatment," said Sigit in a written statement on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
He detailed that 14 students are being treated at Rumah Sakit Islam Cikini, 14 at Rumah Sakit Yarsi, and one at Rumah Sakit Pertamina. "The rest have been allowed to go home and are undergoing outpatient treatment," he said.
2. Densus 88: SMAN 72 Explosion Suspect Carried Seven Explosives, Four Detonated at the Scene
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Detachment 88 Anti-Terror Squad (Densus 88) Police Commissioner Adjutant Mayndra Eka Wardhana stated that the suspected perpetrator of the explosion at SMAN 72 (high school) Jakarta carried seven explosives. "Seven explosives were indeed found," Mayndra said when confirmed by Tempo on Monday, November 10, 2025.
He mentioned that out of the seven explosives carried by the suspected perpetrator, four of them detonated on-site. Meanwhile, the other three did not. He explained that two makeshift bombs detonated in the mosque area, while two others detonated in the Reading Garden and the Waste Bank area.
Mayndra stated that Densus 88 had identified the type of explosives carried by the suspected perpetrator. However, he was reluctant to disclose the details. "For the type of explosives, you can ask the Brimob Gegana or the Jakarta Metropolitan Police authorities," Mayndra said.
3. Indonesia Confirms Plan to Merge Tech Giants GoTo and Grab
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that the government is planning a merger between PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo) and Grab.
"That's the plan," Prasetyo said at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday, November 7, 2025.
He explained that the potential merger is part of broader discussions surrounding the draft presidential regulation (Perpres) on online motorcycle taxis.
The government, he said, aims to ensure a balanced and sustainable ecosystem for drivers, companies, and consumers.
