Trump Poses with 'Make Iran Great Again' Hat Following Maduro Abduction

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - US President Donald Trump appeared to signal potential action against Iran after posing with a hat reading “Make Iran Great Again”, following a US operation to abduct Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro, according to Al Jazeera.

The image, shared by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a close Trump ally, was posted on X while traveling with the president on Air Force One from Florida to Washington, DC, on Sunday night.

God bless our Commander in Chief and all of the brave men and women who serve under him,” Graham wrote. He added, “I’m proud to be an American. God bless and protect the brave people of Iran who are standing up to tyranny.

The slogan on the hat, a variation of Trump’s long-standing presidential campaign motto, was described by Al Jazeera as a signal for regime change in Iran.

Graham had previously worn the same hat during an interview, expressing hope that 2026 would be the year Iran would be “made great again,” amid sporadic anti-government protests in the country.

On Sunday, Trump warned that Washington would intervene militarily if Iranian security forces killed demonstrators.

If they start killing people like they have in the past, I think they’re going to get hit very hard by the United States,” he told Al Jazeera reporters.

Iranian officials condemned the threat. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated that Iran would confront any US attack and “will not give in to the enemy.”

This rhetoric follows the US and Israel’s June attack on Iran targeting three major nuclear sites, after which Iran fired missiles at a US airbase in Doha, causing damage but no casualties.

A ceasefire was reached shortly afterward, but last week Trump warned he would resume military action if Iran attempts to rebuild its nuclear or missile capabilities.

Al Jazeera reported that the US operation in Venezuela has fueled speculation that Iran could be the next target. The Sun highlighted statements from Trump indicating he is increasingly bold in outlining a broader list of countries under US scrutiny since Maduro’s capture.
