TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) held its 54th National Day celebration in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday, November 27, 2025. The event was attended by the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, representatives from the UAE, and Indonesian government officials.
In his address, Al Dhaheri emphasized the UAE's achievements over the past few decades and the strengthening of bilateral relations with Indonesia.
Economic Progress and Foreign Policy
Al Dhaheri emphasized the UAE's transformation in recent decades.
"The UAE has made remarkable progress in various fields, from knowledge-based economy, space exploration, clean energy, artificial intelligence, to advanced technology," he said. He mentioned that the UAE is striving to shape the future without waiting for the right moment.
Al Dhaheri then highlighted the consistency of their foreign policy.
"The UAE adheres to a balanced and responsible foreign policy based on dialogue and the principles of mutual understanding, respect for sovereignty, and compliance with international law," he said. According to him, this approach makes the UAE actively support security and stability at both the regional and global levels.
On the economic front, he highlighted the 24 percent growth in non-oil foreign trade in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period the previous year. He also mentioned that the UAE is now ranked second globally in terms of the number of new foreign direct investment projects. The country's wealth assets are valued at about US$2.5 trillion, Al Dhaheri said.
Al Dhaheri also mentioned that the UAE continues to strengthen its position in the technology sector. He referred to the launch of the first Arabic-language artificial intelligence model, Falcon, as a significant achievement. The UAE also inaugurated a 5-gigawatt AI complex developed in collaboration with the United States.
Bilateral Relations between the UAE and Indonesia
During the event, Al Dhaheri also expressed appreciation for the partnership with Indonesia.
"This relationship is rapidly evolving in various fields: politics, economics, trade, and development," he said.
He stated that both countries are preparing to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2026, a moment that reflects the sustainable growth of the partnership.
He then detailed the trade volume between the two countries, which reached around US$5.5 billion in 2024, up 20 percent from 2023. Investment realization even exceeded US$14 billion, while development cooperation reached around US$260 million.
