TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director of PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia or InJourney, Maya Watono, ensures that 37 airports under InJourney will operate 24 hours during the Christmas and New Year holidays in 2024/2025. This will take place from December 19, 2024, to January 5, 2025, for a total of 18 days.
"We deploy an additional 15,998 personnel during the Christmas and New Year holidays period to ensure smooth operations during this period," Maya said in a press conference at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises building in Central Jakarta on Friday, December 6, 2024.
In addition, Maya said that the passenger traffic at InJourney airports during the holiday season is expected to increase by 4.52% compared to the previous year. Specifically, international passenger traffic in 2024 is expected to increase by 23.2% over the previous year, with 2.2 million pax compared to 1.79 million pax. Domestic passenger traffic is estimated to reach 6 million pax in 2024.
Furthermore, she mentioned that aircraft movements during the Christmas and New Year holidays are projected to decrease by 2.84% compared to last year. Specifically, international flight movements in 2024 will reach 12,965 movements, an increase of 15.4% compared to the previous year, which recorded 11,227 movements. As for domestic flights in 2024, there were 45,406 movements, a decrease of 7.03% from the previous year's 48,842 movements.
Maya mentioned that air passenger traffic is concentrated at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang and I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. She said that various improvements have been made at these two airports to support airport operations.
