TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated seven figures as Special Envoys of the President at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
The inauguration is based on Presidential Decree Number 76/M of 2024 concerning the Appointment of Special Envoys of the President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2024-2029, which was stipulated by Prabowo in Jakarta on Monday, October 21, 2024.
Prabowo previously summoned some of these names to his residence on Jalan Kertanegara IV, Jakarta on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. They were given special tasks in the government by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
7 Special Envoys of President Prabowo
Based on the release received by Tempo, here is the list of Prabowo's special envoys:
- Muhamad Mardiono as Special Envoy of the President for Food Security.
- Setiawan Ichlas as Special Envoy of the President for Economics and Banking.
- Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman (Gus Miftah) as Special Envoy of the President for Religious Harmony and Development of Religious Facilities.
- Raffi Farid Ahmad as Special Envoy of the President for Youth and Art Workers Development.
- Ahmad Ridha Sabana as Special Envoy of the President for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Creative Economy, and Digital.
- Mari Elka Pangestu as Special Envoy of the President for International Trade and Multilateral Cooperation.
- Zita Anjani as Special Envoy of the President for Tourism.
Presidential Special Envoy
The regulations on special presidential envoys were first issued by Indonesia's 7th President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, a few days before he left office.
On October 18, 2024, Jokowi issued Presidential Regulation No. 137 of 2024 on Special Advisers to the President, Special Envoys to the President, Special Staff of the President, and Special Staff of the Vice President.
It regulates the existence of Special Advisers to the President, Special Envoys of the President, as well as Special Staff of the President and Special Staff of the Vice President. This regulation was uploaded to the Legal Information Center of the Secretariat of State on October 22, 2024.
Based on this regulation, both Special Advisers to the President and Special Envoys of the President have been established to facilitate the President's duties. Both perform specific duties assigned by the President outside of those already covered by the organizational structure of ministries and other government agencies.
Special Advisers to the President or Special Envoys of the President are accountable to the President, and reports on the performance of their duties are coordinated by the Cabinet Secretary.
The appointment and principal duties of Special Advisers to the President and Special Envoys to the President are established by presidential decree. Special Advisers to the President and Special Envoys of the President may be civil servants or non-civil servants.
