TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that job opportunities in the capital should be prioritized for Jakarta residents. He delivered this statement while attending the Job Festival Wave III at the Jakarta International Velodrome in Rawamangun on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
Pramono highlighted the recruitment process for new Fire Department (Damkar) personnel, noting the significant number of applicants from outside Jakarta.
"But what surprised me was that the applicants from outside Jakarta were quite high, at over 45 percent," Pramono said. Of the 24,405 applicants, only about 17 percent passed the administrative selection.
He explained that many candidates from outside the capital failed to meet the basic requirements, such as minimum height and possession of a B1 driver’s license.
"So, if they do not meet the requirements, then of course they are automatically disqualified," he added.
Pramono reiterated that Jakarta residents must be given priority in recruitment.
"For this thousand job openings, I apologize, it is indeed prioritized for Jakarta residents. If not all slots are filled, then we can open up the opportunities to residents outside Jakarta," he said.
He also acknowledged that mismatches between company needs and job seeker qualifications still occur frequently. To address this, the Jakarta Provincial Government plans to refine its recruitment system to better align labor demand with available workers.
