TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Ministry of Immigration and Corrections said it has issued 471 golden visas until December 10, 2024, with investments valued at Rp9 trillion.

"In terms of quantity, there are 471 golden visas,” said Acting Director General of Immigration Saffar Muhammad Godam at a press conference on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

The golden visa was first launched on July 25, 2024. At the beginning of its launch, the government already garnered 300 golden visa applicants with a total investment value of up to Rp2 trillion.

The golden visa offers its holders several privileges, including longer stays, access to priority lanes for immigration services at international airports, and efficiency as the golden visa eliminates the limited stay permit (ITAS) requirement.

The types of Golden Visas include individual investment, corporate investment, ex-Indonesian citizen, descendant of an ex-Indonesian citizen, Second Home, and global talent. Golden visa applicants are required to commit to direct investments in Indonesia based on the applicants’ profile.

Deputy Minister of Immigration, Silmy Karim, hopes that the golden visa policy can attract even more foreign investors to come to Indonesia. "The golden visa policy is strategically designed to attract high-value investors and global talent to Indonesia," said Silmy in his official statement quoted on Sunday, December 1, 2024.

According to Silmy, the golden visa policy is designed with the primary goal of making Indonesia a global investment destination by simplifying residence permit requirements for foreign investors entering Indonesia. In addition, he also ensures that incoming investment supports sustainable economic growth, especially in sectors such as technology, tourism, and renewable energy.

"Making Indonesia the primary destination for foreign investments by simplifying residence permit requirements," he said.

Silmy mentioned that the golden visa grants a residence permit valid for 5 to 10 years for investors, depending on the type and value of investment. For individual investors, the investment value is US$700,000, while for corporate investors it is valued at US$50 million.
