A youngster who is new to the Premier League has expressed his excitement at moving to England - but isn't best pleased about the food on offer.

The transfer window in European football is well underway and the 20 top flight teams have all been making their moves, with some splashing out hundreds of millions in bids to improve their squads.

It's not different for Brighton, who paid out over £30million on teenage striker Charalampos Kostoulas and £17.25m on left back Maxim De Cuyper as they look to build on their eighth-place finish last year.

Another one of their summer signings has been 21-year-old centre back Diego Coppola, who put pen to paper on a deal worth just short of £9.5m as he arrives from Serie A side Hellas Verona.

Coppola is a native of Italy and has left his home country for the first time to move to England, and has been speaking about his anticipation and expectations for the season ahead of the weekend opener.

He has, though, also been quick to criticise English food - saying that the country have been getting one dish that he is used to horribly wrong.

The defender has moved to Brighton in the Premier League, leaving Brighton for the first time

'I've always seen it as the best league in the world, not as a dream but as a goal, he told Italian publication Calcio. 'When I heard that Verona and Brighton were talking, I was immediately overjoyed. The Premier League is the Premier League.

'I knew it was a company with a great project, but when I arrived, they really surprised me. The training centre seemed absurd to me - they sent me videos of the training centre to introduce me to the team, and it seemed like something artificial intelligence could do.

'Here, however, I discovered that it was all real - they take care of every aspect, from the kitchen to recovery. They have yoga and pilates classes, a gigantic gym, saunas, hot and cold pools, everything. I still have to find a flaw. Maybe the pasta, which is a little overcooked...'

Brighton will kick off their new season at home to Fulham on Saturday and are hoping to continue to progress under manager Fabian Hurzeler. Coppola also has a fight to earn his spot in the team.

He is already thinking about the campaign and players he will be up against, though. After naming Erling Haaland as the player he is most excited to mark, he picked out another Premier League defender as someone who he has used as inspiration.

'[I studied] Virgil van Dijk,' he said. 'I watched both him and [Vincent] Kompany a lot, but now that I understand football more, van Dijk is a role model.

'My team-mates also said so, when I asked them who are the most impressive players. Many said him because he's an extraordinary presence in the team.'
