TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police have arrested 16 perpetrators of Telkom cable theft operating in the Jalan Raya Cilangkap area, Cipayung, East Jakarta. The perpetrators dug up Telkom cable, which was buried underground, and put it into a transport truck.
Jakarta Metro Police personnel discovered the action while patrolling the area on Monday night, December 30, 2024. The police then brought the perpetrators to the headquarters for further investigation.
"The police officers on patrol caught the perpetrators and asked for their letters of assignment and permits. However, the perpetrators could not produce them," Jakarta Metro Police Chief of Public Relations chief Sr. Comsr. Ade Ary Syam Indradi said in his official statement on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025.
The initials of the perpetrators are K, YR, T, IP, W, S, AK, D, C, AR, D, C, AR, GG, AE, AR, R, and DH.
The police confiscated evidence of 65 pieces of black cable, 5 hoes, 5 pickaxes, 1 axe, 1 truck unit with police number BE 8275 PQ, and 1 Suzuki pickup unit with police number B 9757 ZAB.
