TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon has appointed 74 new officials, including high-ranking officials, administrators, and supervisors, at a ceremony held in the Plaza Insan Berprestasi Hall, Building A of the Ministry of Education and Culture, on Wednesday morning, January 8.
In his remarks, Fadli emphasized that the appointments should not be viewed as mere formalities. He urged the newly appointed officials to take an active role in preserving and advancing Indonesia's cultural heritage.
"We must ensure that our culture spans beyond a national identity, but also serves as the foundation for sustainable development," said Fadli, addressing the newly sworn-in officials.
After the ceremony, Fadli Zon stated that with the appointments of the news officials, the Ministry of Culture’s organizational structure will soon be complete. “The next step is to organize cultural preservation centers and several other agencies under the Ministry,” he said.
The new officials were selected following a process of assessment and interviews, which considered their competencies, ideas, experience, and backgrounds.
Fadli Zon also noted that once positions in the second and third echelons are filled, the Ministry will begin working to implement President Prabowo Subianto’s vision for the country's cultural development.
He emphasized that the Ministry’s priorities would include preserving and protecting Indonesia’s cultural heritage. "Yesterday, I visited Bali and Lombok. The cultural wealth there is extraordinary. We want to ensure that this wealth becomes a national asset," Fadli remarked.
To further develop Indonesia's culture, the Ministry will launch several initiatives, including an inventory of the nation’s cultural assets. The Ministry will begin this process with the National Museum. “From there, we will expand the inventory to other museums to ensure everything is properly documented,” Fadli explained.
