TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State guests for President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka's inauguration tomorrow have begun to arrive this morning, Saturday, October 19, 2024. The first one to land at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is a Russian envoy, representing President Vladimir Putin.
As seen on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Denis Manturov, arrived at around 7:00 a.m. local time, welcomed by Indonesia’s Minister for Women's Empowerment and Child Protection.
Previously, the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning welcomed Christian Wulff, the former President of Germany from 2010 to 2012, in Jakarta. “Thank you for the willingness to attend the Inauguration Ceremony of Indonesian President and Vice President 2024-2029,” the Democratic Party Chair wrote on his Instagram on Friday, October 18, 2024.
According to Heru Budi Hartono, the head of the Presidential Secretariat, the state guests invited to the presidential inauguration will arrive on Saturday, October 19. Heru Budi said state guests from 20 countries have confirmed their attendance, along with a U.N. envoy and 13 special representatives of the head of state.
The welcoming procession for the heads of state will be conducted both at the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport and the Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The Palace has also prepared a hotel for the state guests.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the confirmed state guests come from Russia, Germany, Singapore, Laos, Qatar, Vietnam, Vanuatu, Brunei Darussalam, Timor Leste, Serbia, China, Thailand, Cambodia, New Zealand, Malaysia, the Solomon Islands, Australia, the Philippines, South Korea, and Papua New Guinea.
“There’s still a chance of additional state guests who are now still awaiting confirmation,” said the ministry spokesperson, Roy Soemirat, in a brief text on Friday, October 18.
On Sunday, October 20, the Jakarta Provincial Government will eliminate the car-free day and instead set up a public entertainment stage along the road that will be passed by the President- and Vice President-Elect on their way from the parliament complex to Merdeka Palace. The entertainment stage is set up from Ratu Plaza, Senayan, to Arjuna Wijaya Statue, Jakarta.
