The U-17 Mali National Team claimed the Independence Cup (Piala Kemerdekaan in Bahasa Indonesia) 2025 title after defeating Indonesia 2-1. The match was held at the Utama Sumatera Utara Stadium in Deli Serdang on Monday, August 18, 2025.
Mali’s goals came from Zoumana Ballo and Seydou Dembele, while Indonesia reduced the deficit through a first-half header by Fadly Alberto. The win allowed Mali to sweep all their tournament matches.
Previously, they beat Uzbekistan 5-1 and Tajikistan 4-2. Indonesia concluded the tournament with four points, following a victory over Uzbekistan and a draw against Tajikistan.
2. Independence Cup 2025: Indonesia Down 1-2 to Mali at Halftime
Facing Mali, Indonesia U-17 head coach Nova Arianto opted for his strongest lineup in a 5-2-3 formation. He placed three central defenders consisting of I Putu Panji, Algazani Dwi Sugandi, and Eizar Jacob, supported by wing-backs Fabio Azka Irawan on the right and Mathew Baker on the left.
In midfield, Nazriel Alvaro and Evandra Florasta acted as anchors while also directing Indonesia’s build-up play. They provided support to the front three of Dimas Adi Prasetyo, Faldy Alberto Hengga, and Mochammad Mierza Firjatullah.

3. Indonesia's 91,028 Islamic Religious Teachers Expected to Be Eligible for Professional Allowance in 2026
Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs has reported that there are 91,028 Islamic education teachers holding positions who are participating in the professional education program (PPG) this year. Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar stated that if they pass the PPG, they will receive a professional allowance (TPG) starting in 2026. He mentioned that the provision of TPG is a form of commitment from President Prabowo Subianto.
"The Ministry of Religious Affairs is committed to supporting President Prabowo's national priority program," Nasaruddin said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, August 18, 2025.
Nasaruddin conveyed that this policy is in line with Prabowo's directive to complete teacher certification through the PPG comprehensively this year. He emphasized that the TPG for non-civil servant teachers has been increased.
