TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corporate Affairs Director of PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk (Alfamart) Solihin was officially inaugurated as the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) for the 2024-2028 period.

Aprindo, which he will lead for the next four years, said Solihin, will be an organization that bridges retail entrepreneurs with the government to jointly strengthen and face global economic challenges.

"Aprindo will strengthen synergy and collaboration to face the challenges of the retail industry in the global era. Building an inclusive, competitive, and progressive retail ecosystem with the advancement of the times to be competitive against global economic challenges," said Solihin after the inauguration at the Soll Marina Hotel, Tangerang, Saturday, December 14, 2024.

Solihin was elected as the General Chairperson of Aprindo for the 2024-2028 period, replacing Roy Nicolas Mandey. He was elected by acclamation at the 8th Aprindo National Conference which took place on November 15-17, 2024.

Aprindo, said Solihin, will be a strategic partner of the government in strengthening the retail ecosystem in Indonesia, advancing MSMEs and driving the nation's economy towards independence.

Director of Trade Business Development at the Ministry of Trade Septo Soepriyatno is optimistic that Aprindo will be a strategic partner in strengthening the retail ecosystem in Indonesia, advancing MSMEs and driving domestic economic growth.

The Ministry of Trade, said Septo, continues to encourage Aprindo through its retail network throughout Indonesia to increase sales of domestic products and MSME products in order to dominate the Indonesian market amidst the onslaught of foreign products (imports).

Septo said that Minister of Trade Budi Santosa has prepared a number of steps to increase and expand the market for Indonesian products, namely, securing the domestic market, the large market potential must be filled with domestic products.

"We can no longer prohibit foreign products from entering. But how do we fill the market with domestic products and this has the support of all associations," he said.

The Ministry of Trade will also expand the export market by optimizing trade agreements, increasing the number of trade agreements to encourage Indonesian products to enter the export market.
