TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, or BMKG, predicts that rain will fall on parts of Jakarta tonight Friday, December 13, 2024. The weather is expected to be cloudy from morning to afternoon.
According to the weather forecast officially released by BMKG at 7 p.m. on Thursday, almost all Jakarta areas will be cloudy this morning. The sky in Central Jakarta would be cloudy but not raining.
From Friday at 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., the weather in all Jakarta areas was predicted to be cloudy and sunny, except for the Seribu Islands, or the Thousand Islands, which is cloudy. The air temperature would not exceed 31 degrees Celsius throughout the day, while the humidity would be around 80-95 percent. Winds generally blow from southwest to northwest at 10-25 kilometers per hour.
The BMKG issued an early warning for the possibility of heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in several areas in South Jakarta and East Jakarta this afternoon. The weather in Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands would still be cloudy in the afternoon around 7 p.m..
In contrast to Bogor City and Bekasi City, which would remain cloudy, BMKG estimated that Depok City in West Java would experience light rain at 2 p.m., for about 2 hours. The city of Tangerang in Banten would not also be raining, but there is a potential for foggy weather in the afternoon at around 2 p.m.
It should be noted that three tropical cyclone seeds in southern Indonesia have finally dissipated. The cyclone seeds, which trigger the formation of convective clouds and rain, were previously observed in the Indian Ocean south of West Java, the Indian Ocean southwest of Banten, and the waters of the Timor Sea.
