TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prabowo Subianto officially became the President of Indonesia and Gibran Rakabuming Raka became the Vice President of Indonesia for the term 2024-2029. This happened after both of them took the oath of office in front of the plenary session of the MPR on Sunday, 20 October 2024.
"In the name of Allah, I swear to fulfill the duties of the President of the Republic of Indonesia to the best of my abilities and as justly as possible, uphold the Constitution and execute all laws and regulations with the utmost integrity while serving the Country and the Nation," said Prabowo who took the oath under the Quran and witnessed by Islamic clerics.
After Prabowo, Gibran took the oath of office.
"In the name of Allah, I swear to fulfill the duties of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia to the best of my abilities and as justly as possible, uphold the Constitution and execute all laws and regulations with the utmost integrity while serving the Country and the Nation," said Gibran.
The inauguration ceremony of Prabowo and Gibran began at 10.00 WIB. The inauguration event was attended by Joko Widodo or Jokowi as the seventh President of Indonesia and 35 friendly foreign guests.
Present at the inauguration session, the Chair of the MPR, Ahmad Muzani, congratulated the two new leaders of Indonesia for the next five years.
"On behalf of the leadership and members of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia and the entire Indonesian people, we congratulate Mr. Prabowo Subianto and Mr. Gibran Rakabuming Raka," said Muzani in the session.
