TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, also known as AHY, stated that the 3 million housing program will be carried out gradually. However, he could not confirm the number of houses that the government will build next year.

"I will specifically convey this, so that the statistics are not wrong. It is clear that there is indeed a 3 million housing program. All of this certainly needs to be done step by step," said the son of the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, SBY, to reporters at Hotel Mulia, Jakarta, on Sunday, December 1, 2024.

The Chair of the Democratic Party stated that he needs to engage in more intensive discussion with the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait, to ascertain the number. After discussing it with the Gerindra Party politician, he will be able to reveal the number to the public.

"Later, we will explain the step by step process before I specifically disclose the total number of houses to be built," said the former Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency.

Nevertheless, during the National Leadership Meeting of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) faction led by Anindya Novyan Bakrie, AHY mentioned that the 3 million housing program is an extraordinary program. He mentioned that there are still 11-12 million backlogs or the number of households without homes. He added that tens of millions of others have not yet inhabited decent houses.

AHY stated that the houses built by the government will be located in both urban and rural areas. He revealed that there are two types of houses, namely vertical residences or high rise and landed houses.

Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, mentioned that the government is collaborating with state-owned enterprises and private sectors in the 3 million housing program. Next year, the construction of houses through this cooperation is targeted to reach 800,000 units.

"To build 3 million houses with a target in 2025, the initial target is 800,000," said Kartika at the National Leadership Meeting of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) during the Extraordinary National Consultative Assembly (Munaslub) at Hotel Mulia, Jakarta, on Sunday, December 1, 2024.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Housing Task Force, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, had previously mentioned that the 3 million housing program is a yearly target. Therefore, during Prabowo Subianto's 5-year term, it is targeted to build 15 million houses.

"I want to clarify, it's not 3 million (for one term). We want to build 3 million every year, (5 years) 15 million. I hope the construction of 3 million houses every year," said Prabowo's younger sibling at the Propertinomic Exclusive Dialogue event at Hotel Grand Sahid, on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
