TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto is giving corruptors a chance to repent. This week, Prabowo allowed corruptors to return their stolen money.
He said this when speaking before Indonesian students at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, Wednesday, December 18, 2024, local time.
“I am here this week to give an opportunity to repent. Hey, corruptors or those who have stolen, if you return what you stole, I will forgive you,” Prabowo said, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube broadcast on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
Prabowo said he would forgive corruptors if they returned the stolen public money. Prabowo will open a space for corruptors to return stolen money without the public's knowing.
“Later we will allow returning the corruption so it won't be discovered,” said Prabowo.
In addition, Prabowo also appealed to those who use state facilities to pay their obligations. He asked them to obey the law.
If he has paid his obligations, Prabowo said he would not have any problems in the future. “If you continue to be stubborn, what can you do? We will enforce the law,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo also asked the state apparatus to be loyal to the state, nation and people. If loyal to the people, Prabowo promised to clean up the dirty apparatus. “I believe and trust that the Indonesian people are behind me,” Prabowo said.
