TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Army (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) have deployed 115,000 personnel to secure the inauguration of the elected president Prabowo Subianto and vice president Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Their inauguration takes place in Jakarta today, Sunday, October 20, 2024.
Out of the total security forces at the Prabowo-Gibran presidential inauguration, 15,000 personnel are from the police force. While the remaining 100,000 are TNI personnel.
The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, stated that the police have secured the routes to be taken by VVIP vehicles towards the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta on the day of the inauguration. The police personnel will also secure the return routes for the VVIPs after the inauguration ceremony.
Listyo mentioned that the police have anticipated the presence of the public who will witness the power transition from President Joko Widodo to Prabowo. "The departure points to the DPR/MPR and vice versa will be attended by the public who certainly want to welcome the presence of the outgoing and incoming presidents, this is certainly our concern," Listyo stated in a written statement on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
According to Listyo, the police have deployed a total of 15,224 personnel divided into eight task units (Satgas). "We, together with the Commander, will continue to work to mitigate, minimize, and also related to the inauguration plan. Certainly, we are also securing traffic diversion routes," Listyo added.
During the Prabowo-Gibran inauguration, the public can attend 13 entertainment stages along the Sudirman-Thamrin stretch, not far from the Parliament Complex, Senayan. Citizens can join the procession of Prabowo and Gibran from the Parliament Building to the new presidential office, the Istana Merdeka.
A total of 1,100 invitations will attend the Prabowo-Gibran inauguration at the Parliament Building, Senayan on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Confirmed state guests from 20 countries plus a United Nations envoy will be present along with 13 special representatives of heads of state.
