TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Indonesian National Shipping) or Pelni has announced that ship tickets for the Christmas 2024 and New Year (Nataru) 2025 holidays can now be ordered. Nataru ticket sales are open for several travel routes.

"Don't run out of year-end holiday tickets, because some routes for Pelni Ship ticket sales 2024/2025 are now available for booking!" wrote PT Pelni on its Instagram account on Sunday, November 24, 2024.

Tickets can be ordered through official sales channels such as PT Pelni (Persero) branch offices, Pelni's official website, Pelni Contact Center, Pelni's WhatsApp number, and Pelni Mobile application. In addition, tickets can also be purchased through BNI, BCA, and Mandiri bank applications.

For those who want to buy ship tickets at minimarkets, they can do so at the nearest Alfamart, Indomaret, or Alfamidi. Other official sales channels include Via.com, Easybook, ATA Tour, Fastpay, Topindoku, OMI, Darmawisata Indonesia, MMBC Tour & Travel, and Versa Technology.

Ticket purchases can also be made through travel agents whose names are listed in the official Pelni travel agent list.

There are five departure ports that Pelni always sees an influx of passengers during the Nataru holiday season. The state-owned enterprise (BUMN) urges prospective passengers to be aware of the risk of running out of tickets.

Pelni's Passenger Transport Business Director Nuraini Dessy mentioned that the five departure ports in question are Makassar, Ambon, Batam, Jayapura, and Belawan.

"So don't run out of tickets, because we also limit the seats for the safety and security of passengers," said Dessy, quoted from a written statement on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

According to her statement, Makassar is a Class 1 port that serves as a hub for ships from the western, central, and eastern parts of Indonesia. The number of Pelni ships at the port city reaches 14 fleets.

During the Nataru period from December 11, 2024, to January 8, 2025, the number of passengers departing from Makassar Port with Pelni ships is predicted to reach 36,819 people. This number is almost 20 percent higher than in 2023, which reached 30,751 people.

Makassar, Ambon, and Jayapura still rank among the top five busiest departure ports compared to last year. "While Batam and Belawan, which made it this year, displaced Surabaya and Balikpapan, the busiest last year," said Dessy.

To anticipate the surge in passengers, Dessy stated that Pelni has obtained additional permits or dispensations to carry passengers exceeding the ship's carrying capacity. However, the dispensation permit granted by the Ministry of Transportation still takes into account the availability of safety equipment on board.
