TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Indonesia's National Nutrition Agency Dadan Hindayana said that the beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meals in Jakarta amounted to 85,000 people. The number of recipients will be spread across all areas of Jakarta.
"For Jakarta, it is spread across 5 cities and 1 district, estimated to cover 85,000 beneficiaries," Dadan Hindayana told Tempo, Sunday, December 15, 2024.
Dadan said the Free Nutritious Meals program will start in January in accordance with the school start days. The target is three million beneficiaries.
Previously, Dadan said that his agency would prepare 150 Free Nutritious Meal Program Units (SPMBG) in December for the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals.
"150 SPMBGs are being prepared in December," Dadan said when contacted by Tempo, Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Dadan said that regional governments that have small APBD allocations can partner with the National Nutrition Agency to prepare infrastructure.
President Prabowo Subianto's government will provide free nutritious meals for 82.9 million children, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, and students throughout Indonesia. The government has prepared a budget of Rp71 trillion per year.
Initially, one portion of nutritious meals was budgeted at Rp15,000, but last week Prabowo stated that the nutritious meal quota was cut to Rp10,000 based on the results of the trial in Sukabumi.
Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, said the budget for free nutritious meals or MBG of Rp10,000 per portion was just a simulation. He said the government would certainly provide an evaluation after the budget was implemented in the field as a whole.
"Of course, simulations of implementation towards its implementation in January next year continue to be carried out, and the Rp10,000 is the initial foundation for the calculation," said Muhaimin when met at the parliament building complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday night, December 13, 2024.
The man who is familiarly called Cak Imin explained that even if the budget of Rp10,000 per serving is still implemented, the National Nutrition Agency certainly already has a food formulation that will be served. According to him, it could be that the budget of Rp10,000 per serving is more focused on fulfilling protein.
To manage free nutritious meals, the National Nutrition Agency has established service units in a number of regions. Dadan said that static school geospatial data is used as the initial basis for building as many service units in all regions in Indonesia, which will later total 30,000.
Dadan explained that service units in all regions are designed to manage a budget of Rp7-10 billion to handle the distribution of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program in a structured manner to various target groups.
