TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visited the Indian parliament building on the sidelines of a series of state visit activities on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
Quoted from the Press Bureau of the Secretary of State, Prabowo arrived at the Indian Parliament building and was greeted by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha/DPR of India Shri Om Birla, Head of Parliamentary Protocol Ambassador Anjani Kumar, Deputy Head of Parliamentary Protocol Ramana and Deputy Secretary of the Indian Parliament Ginlal Chung.
President Prabowo then reviewed the Plenary Hall of the Lok Sabha, the courtroom of the Indian DPR which is known for its magnificent architecture and full of democratic symbolism. The Head of State seemed enthusiastic to listen to the explanation regarding the architecture.
Prabowo visited the Plenary Hall of the Rajya Sabha, the courtroom of the Indian MPR, which functions as the representative house of the states in India's federal system. Prabowo again showed his interest, highlighting the role of the Rajya Sabha in maintaining the balance of power between the central and state governments.
The visit continued with a review of the art and culture gallery which displays a collection of traditional art from various regions in India. The gallery reflects the richness of India’s diverse culture, a theme that has always been a strong link between India and Indonesia.
Prabowo last visited Foucault’s Pendulum, an installation that shows the theory of planetary rotation developed by French engineer Léon Foucault. President Prabowo also appreciated the collaboration between art, science, and technology displayed in the parliament building.
Prabowo visited India on 23–26 January 2025 for a state visit and to attend as the chief guest of India's 76th Republic Day, Sunday, 26 January 2025.
Accompanying President Prabowo at the event were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and the Indonesian Ambassador to New Delhi Ina Krisnamurthi.
