President-elect of the United States Donald Trump chose Linda McMahon as Minister of Education. Linda McMahon former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment or WWE, which she founded with her husband, Vince McMahon.
As the head of WWE, Linda McMahon, oversaw its transformation from a wrestling entertainment industry into a publicly traded media empire. She resigned in 2009 to run for Senate, but lost in Connecticut in 2010 and 2012.
About Linda McMahon
As cited from US News, Linda McMahon, attended New Bern High School, and was active as a member of the National Honor Society, played basketball, and sang in the school choir club. She was also a Girl Scout member. She continued her education at East Carolina University, majoring in Education, focusing on French Language. She completed her studies in three years. After graduating, McMahon moved to the capital with her husband and worked at the law firm Covington & Burling.
As cited from Ballotpedia.org, Linda McMahon, served as the Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) from 2017 to 2019, becoming the 25th person to hold that position.
On April 12, 2019, McMahon resigned from her position as SBA Administrator to lead the America First Action PAC. In her role at the SBA, she managed programs supporting small businesses, including loans, loan guarantees, contracts, counseling sessions, and other forms of assistance. McMahon was a Connecticut delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention and a member of the RNC Rules Committee that same year.
On November 19, 2024, Trump announced the nomination of Linda McMahon as Minister of Education, a position requiring Senate confirmation. Trump stated that Linda McMahon's extensive leadership experience and her understanding of education and business would help empower the generation of students and workers.
Subsequently, a lawsuit emerged accusing Linda McMahon of allegedly allowing sexual exploitation of children by WWE employees since the early 1980s. McMahon has denied these allegations.
As reported by CNN, the lawsuit alleges that Linda McMahon, Vince, WWE, and TKO Group Holdings-WWE's parent company-allowed Melvin Phillips Jr., a ring announcer, to use his position to exploit children.
The lawsuit was filed in October in Baltimore County, Maryland, by five anonymous plaintiffs who claimed to be aged between 13 and 15 when first recruited by Phillips to be Ring Boys.
