TEMPO.CO, Solo - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will cast his vote in the 2024 regional election at Polling Station 18 Manahan, Banjarsari District, Solo City, Central Java.
Joint personnel from the Indonesian armed forces (TNI) and the national police (Polri) will tighten the VVIP security to welcome the vice president and to secure the election.
Commander of Military Command Area 074/Warastratama, Colonel Inf Ali Akwan, said they will deploy 2,500 personnel from the Unit Task Force Security (Satgaspam), consisting of various elements such as TNI, Polri, Transportation Office, Fire Department, Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and Community Protection (Linmas).
"We carry out security measures following our procedures for comfort and security. We also held an assembly here to check the readiness of personnel and materials in the field for the security operation," said Ali when met by the media after leading the assembly of the Satgaspam VVIP Security Task Force and 2024 Regional Election in the Stadion Manahan Solo, Central Java, Tuesday, 26 November 2024.
Regarding security at the polling station where Gibran will cast his vote, Ali said it will be carried out according to protocols and procedures. However, he mentioned that there would be no restrictions on the people who vote at that specific polling station.
"(Vice President) will mingle with the people, according to the voter list," he said, adding that Gibran plans to come to Solo today.
In his directives during the assembly, Ali stressed that the security forces should provide security following the procedures determined by each unit in the areas where the 2024 regional election will take place.
"Ensure that the situation is calm and no prominent issues disrupt the course of the election. Then, ensure that the situation and the condition are safe for the people," he said.
