TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - State Railway Company PT KAI of Yogyakarta Operating Region 6 has scheduled eight trains for this year's Christmas and New Year holidays. The eight trains are classified as new-generation trains.
"In this Christmas and New Year period, the public will be pampered by the presence of new generation trains with good comfort," said Public Relations Manager of KAI Yogyakarta Krisbiyantoro, on Friday, November 8, 2024.
New Generation Train Series
Eight early departure trains from Yogyakarta with new generation series are:
1. Argo Dwipangga (9) with the route of Solobalapan - Gambir (round trip)
2. Argo Lawu (7) with the route of Solobalapan - Gambir (round-trip)
3. Taksaka (67) with the route of Yogyakarta - Gambir (round-trip)
4. Taksaka (69) with the route of Yogyakarta - Gambir (round-trip)
5. Lodaya (91) with the route of Solobalapan - Bandung (round-trip)
6. Lodaya (93) with the route of Solobalapan - Bandung (round-trip)
7. Progo (247) with the route of Lempuyangan - Pasarsenen (round-trip)
8. Jaka Tingkir (221) with the route of Purwosari - Pasarsenen (round-trip)
Krisbiyantoro said that these eight trains have become the public's choice for traveling to various destinations. This can be seen from the occupancy rate of one train, Taksaka (69) with the route of Yogyakarta - Gambir (round-trip). The train had a passenger occupancy rate of 76 percent before using the new-generation series and increased to 82 percent after using the new-generation series.
"Trains with the new generation series should be the first choice for the public when traveling long distances, as they offer many facilities to support comfort," said Krisbiyantoro.
Modern Interior
The new generation train has a more modern interior, complete and informative PIDS, USB port chargers, power outlets, and a prayer room. To support comfort, the passenger seats use captain's type seats with reclining features that can be adjusted in the direction of the train or facing each other and have ample legroom.
In addition, the latest new-generation stainless steel trains feature electric sliding doors and toilets with foot washer and baby-care desk. The new generation restaurant car also looks luxurious and beautiful, adding to the passenger experience when riding the train during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
"By riding the new generation train, passengers will no longer feel uncomfortable while traveling because the seat design is no longer upright, which results in no knee collisions between passengers and no backward movement," Krisbiyantoro added.
This service improvement is a form of KAI's commitment to providing the best service to passengers and to increasing public interest in using trains for sustainable programs. Train passengers will also be free from traffic jams during the Christmas and New Year holidays, making travel more comfortable and economical.
